Big World House was inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In his Nobel Peace
Prize lecture in 1964, he first articulated his vision of a world house in which a family of
different races, religions, ideas, cultures and interests learn to live together as brothers
and sisters. This powerful message is still relevant today, especially after 9/11. Please
pray for peace and community.
CHORUS
A big world house we have all inherited
All, from the greatest to the least
Under the same roof, not by any of our merit
Somehow we must learn how to live in peace.
We must somehow learn how to live in peace.
Eastern or Western, Gentile or Jew
Do onto others as you’d have done to you
Catholic or Protestant, Muslim and Hindu
Happy are the Peacemakers, every day we start anew.
Every day we start anew.
REPEAT CHORUS
Don’t you go trashin’ brother’s bedroom down the hall
All will pay the price for being cruel.
The world can not handle too much more of Cain and Abel
Everybody knows the Golden Rule.
You know the Golden Rule.
Separated by ideas –(we’re all in the house together)
Separated by our culture –(we’re all in the house together)
Separated by our interest –(we’re all in the house together)
It don’t matter we’re all in the house together
All in the house together
REPEAT CHORUS
