As a pianist, Christine Wolf has a Bachelor of Music, cum laude, from St. Cloud State
and did her Masters studies at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT. She was
awarded several MMTA honors, a Paderewski Medal and Guild Diploma as a
student, and she was the Minnesota's 1st place Collegiate Young Artist of '86. For her
40th birthday, Chris attended the Cliburn Piano Institute in Ft. Worth and studied with
Harold Martina.
As a teacher, Chris teaches full time with a high retention rate; she considers her studio
happy and successful. She writes pieces for students-Chris' composition “Porcupine
Polka” won 1st prize in the MMTA Teacher Duet Competition in 2003, and is now
published by Alfred Publishing. Chris' recent releases, “Monkey Business” (late elem),
“Chestnut the Gerbil” (Early Int.) and “I Wanna Be a Spy” (Early Int. duet), were
published in 2006 by FJH Music Company.
Chris is an inventor-look for her Bag O' Blocks, a theory teaching toy and her POGO
Sticks Post-it Notes. The blocks sold out at the MTNA National Conference in
Austin, Texas. Her active participation in the Federation of Music Clubs, the
Minnesota Music Teachers Association, Music Teachers National Association,
American College of Musicians, National Guild of Piano Teachers as a teacher,
adjudicator, site chair, and worker bee gives her many great ideas to develop a
student's lifelong love of music.
Chris has had the privilege of accompanying Don Knotts, Miss America's Dorothy
Benham, and performed on Eagle's Cancer Telethons as a student. Her bio is included
in the Who's Who of America, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who of
American Educators.
She is Minister of Music at her church, has written hymns and choir pieces, and is
currently working on a CD of original Christian music for Prayer Shawl Ministry. Chris
makes a mean salsa and dabbles in pottery, poetry and tropical fish. She wishes you
much joy in your music making.
