Comfort In Our Sorrows was originally written in memory of my Grandma
Hilda with phrases from her funeral. It almost didn't make the CD; it was big. I heard
strings, there were so many issues to overcome. Then my friend Chris was diagnosed with
kidney cancer and died in less than three months. And this is the song I hummed in the
shower, caught myself singing in the car; it comforted me. So I went back to Wayne and
said that it needed to be here. It still gives me goosebumps even though I've heard it
hundreds of times. What a powerful message: "You are mine" (Isaiah 43, verses 1 and 2). This
is for all with health issues. Please pray for all who suffer.
Isaiah 43:1-3
Are you treading in life’s waters dark and deep?
Are you struggling through the fire and the flame?
God has never promised bright and sunny days,
Life without a tear or carefree, easy ways.
Are you in a trial, facing a temptation?
Are you wilting under trouble, overwhelmed?
God has never promised earthly paradise.
For our sin, He paid the highest sacrifice.
CHORUS
And He promised
Comfort in our sorrows, strength for the day.
Rest, peace, and solace, He will light our way.
I am with you, I’ve redeemed you.
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
God has never promised earthly paradise.
For our sin, He paid the highest sacrifice.
REPEAT CHORUS
When you pass through the waters, I’ll be with you.
And when you pass through the fire, I’ll be with you.
When you pass through the waters, I’ll be with you.
When you pass through the fire, I’ll be with you.
I am with you, ‘cause I’ve redeemed you, and
I have summoned you, summoned you by name; you are mine.
You are mine, and I love you. You are mine.
