Congratulations to Festival participants! Good luck to those going to State (MMTA).
The guild down-payments (end of the year report cards) are on this month’s statement. The balance, if
any, will be around $12, depending on the length of the program. For those new to Guild, it is a
national program to evaluate and celebrate your child’s piano year. It’s valuable and worthwhile.
Students play 4-10 memorized pieces before a nationally recognized judge, (only the two people in the
room), for a report card type end of the year grade. I am continuing to assess a new national program
called The Achievement Program, which some colleges and universities may begin using as a national
benchmark. Ask me if you need more information on either fine program. You can also go to either of
their websites: www.theachievementprogram.org, or www.pianoguild.com.
Our upcoming recitals! I have dates for your calendar! Our Winter recital is February 26th at 2:00 p.m,
and May 14th (yes, a Monday evening) at 7:00 p.m. will be our end of the year recital at the church
across the street.
We have a puzzle started in the waiting room-come join the fun while your child has his lesson!
February is composition month! This year’s ideas will revolve around Dr. Seuss. We will write our own
whozewhatsis, clapperbangschnizzles, and doowopaloozas! Perhaps reading an old “If I Ran the Zoo”,
“One Fish Two Fish”, or Grinch book will put you in the mood!
Some students have told me their pianos don’t “work right” or sound “good”. It’s time to tune and
maintain your piano. Please keep your instrument at its best. It makes students want to practice.
Finally, do any of you wish that I took charge cards? Or used an autopay system?
